Women's 1900s Bathing Suit

Our Ladies 1900s Bathing Suit is the appropriate attire that a proper young lady would have worn along the shoreline at an early 19th century beach resort. Featuring the most popular naval middy collar with a V-neck front and a large square flap across the back with contrasting trim, this historically accurate garment boasts authentic details such as an attached contrasting bow tie, cap sleeves, and contrasting trim at the sleeves and ruffled skirt bottom. The skirt measures approximately 26 inches in length from the set-in waist, and a discreet zipper fastens up the side.

As more people began flocking to beaches, the bathing garments became more fitted and shorter, much to the dismay of conservative bystanders. This well-tailored sailor suit was the height of beach fashion in the 1890s and early 1900s, even passing the scrutiny of the Beach Patrol whose job was to ensure that ladies' skirts were not too short. Constructed from 100% cotton for comfort, this imported swimsuit is machine washable in cold water on a gentle cycle and can be hung to dry or dry-cleaned. The sizing chart is as follows: Small (Bust up to 34-35", Waist up to 28-29"), Medium (Bust 36-37", Waist 30-31"), Large (Bust 38-39", Waist 32-33"), X-Large (Bust 40-41", Waist 34-35"), 2X (Bust 42-45", Waist 36-38"), and 3X (Bust 45-47", Waist 39-42").

Please note that this is a historical garment and is not recommended for actual swimming. The white fabric may become sheer when wet, so an additional layer is advised for modesty.
